Storm Related Damage Building Assessment Post Hurricane Matthew Assessments Project Brief Friday, October 7, 2016, the eye of Hurricane Matthew moved along the Florida coast offshore of St. Augustine. Storm surge caused high tides in the nation's oldest city sending water over the seawall. While Florida was spared from catastrophic damage, winds and flooding attributed to multiple deaths and prolonged loss of power as the 110 mph winds gained momentum from the Category 2 hurricane.
